ZA RODINA, ZA STALINA, ZA KOMMUNIZMA   Chief marshal (Glavnij marsjal) was the highest rank within the branches, above whom were only the rank of Marshal of the Soviet Union.

This uniform belonged to a Hero of the Soviet Union and and twice recipient of the Order of Lenin. His career probably started during the late 1930-ties, or just around the outbreak of the second world war. During the war he served in the defense of Leningrad and Kiev and recieved both 1st and 2nd class of the Order for Great Patriotic War, two Red Stars (a third one was awarded later) and two medals for combat service. He also participated in the liberation of Belgrade and Prague and in the conquest of Japan in late summer/early autumn of 1945. His awards also include a Red Banner of Labor and the Order of the Badge of Honour, presumably given for achievements in defense construction and/or political contribution to the success and advancement of the Soviet state.

The set is in excellent condition. The jacket shows some wear on the inside. The size of the uniform is 54-56, the trousers are size 54 and the cap is size 60. In U.S. sizes, this is 44 for jacket, 38 for trousers and 7 1/2 (?) for the visor cap.

Awards:
Hero of the Soviet Union (wearers copy!), twice Order of Lenin (copies), Order of Red Banner of Labor, twice Order of Great Patriotic War, three times Order of the Red Star, Order of the Badge of Honour, Mongolian Order of the Polar Star, twice Medal for Combat service, Medal for Defense of Leningrad, Medal for Defense of Kiev, Medal for Victory over Germany, Victory anniversary medals of 1965, 1975, 1985, Medal for Victory over Japan, Medals for liberation of Belgrade, Vienna and Prague, Medal for Veteran Serviceman, Armed forces anniversary medals of 1968, 1978 and 1988, 20 years of irreproachable service, Polish medal for Bravery III class (in pocket of the uniform, came off during storage time).

Please note that the graduation badge is for an officer. A marshal should have a white academy badge, but it came with this badge and we have kept it with it.
