POLKOVNIK "GRANITSA" Parade uniform of a colonel of the Soviet Union borderguards, which was a part of the KGB. The borderguards kept a watching eye on the vast borders of the Soviet Union, at land, at sea and in the air. When fascist germany invaded the Soviet Union in June 1941, the first to encounter the invasion were the borderguards.
The borderguard branch wore uniforms with the same cut and style as the armed forces officers and enlisted men, and had forest green as their distinctive colour on collar tabs, sleeves, shoulderboards and cap crowns.
The uniform consists of jacket, trousers, shirt with shoulderboards, tie and belt.
The uniform is in very good condition with some wear to the visor cap.
The size of the uniform is 52, the cap is size 59. In U.S. sizes, this is 42 for jacket and 7 3/8 for the visor cap.
