This incredible uniform was initially aquired from the daughter of the officer, who passed away in 1995. The uniform was sold to a collector in the U.K. and then purchased by Soviet-Uniforms.com this spring. The career of her father in the Soviet armed forces begun in about 1954. Having served his time as enlisted man, he remained in the ranks of the engineering branch and rose in rank to finally recieve the rank of lieutnant-colonel in 1980. During his time in the army as engineer he was supervisor of the Baikal-Amur railroad construction during the 1970s, technical advisor at the Chernobil disaster in 1986 and communications engineer during the early years of the Afghanistan conflict.

The uniform features awards both for above mentioned services, a decoration for combat service (although he was not involved in open combat according to the information we got), medal for the Baikal-amur project and the Afghanistan and Chernobil related awards. Further, he got the usual medals for long service and the anniversary medals for the victory and the armed forces anniversaries.

The uniform is in excellent condition and comes with straight leg trousers for wear with shoes, visor cap and belt. The size is 52 (US42, L) and the cap is size 58 (L) and produced in 1971. The collar tabs feature the engineer branch insignias on black velvet.
