POLKOVNIK-GENERAL Well worn, still very nice wool gabardine parade uniform model M/54 for a colonel-general of the infantry. The uniform set has jacket, breeches, visor cap and belt and dates from the mid 1950s. The jacket has several holes from the awards that the owner had recieved; both screwback decorations and hanging awards. It is likely that the awards has been moved around on the uniform when new awards have been earned as some holes tend to be rather close to each other. The lining has some repairs and shows sign of usage and wear.
The shoulderboards feature three large embroidered stars with slight patina of oxidiation. The same goes for the collar embroidery, being a uniform made from the same techniques and matherials as the M/45 uniforms but with a thread mix, the wear and oxidization pattern on the collar is quite interesting. This aging is only present on the collar - the sleeve embroideries do not have this. The buttons are 1946-1956 type with 16 republics in the state seal.
The visor cap matches the uniform but does interestingly have the older side buttons with 11 republics (not 16 as was the number of Soviet states in 1955). The size of the visor cap is 56 and the factory markings are clearly visible on the inside. The cap has retained its good shape and has the correct two-piece general and marshal badge.
The belt is a standard issue generals/marshals belt of post-1956 type and is in good condition.
The size of the uniform is 52 for jacket and trousers and the cap is 56 as mentioned above. In US sizes this is 42 for uniform and 7 for the visor cap.
