MAJOR OF TANK TROOPS
Stunning parade uniform of a major of the tank forces with war service in Leningrad area, possibly against the Finns, and in Bulgaria. What makes this uniform extra interesting is the fact that the bravery medal is on the old square type hanger and has not been converted to the five sided suspension hanger that was introduced in 1942-1943. The serial number in the 400.000 range indicate that the award was given during the early years of the war.
Apart from the above mentioned award, the owner also got the medal for defense of Leningrad (and the medal celebrating the 250th anniversary of Leningrad as well, given out in 1957 to citizens of the town as well as to defenders) and the medal for Victory over Germany. The Red Star orders are for wartime actions (top one) and long service (lower one).
The set comes with breeches for wear with boots and these are also in excellent condition. The belt is 1950's type with gold thread. The jacket has holders for the belt. The shoulderboards has one star each, representing the rank of major. Both sleeves and collar has metal insignia and on the collar are also tank forces insignia. The collar is made from black velvet, a material only used for tankist uniforms.
