GENERAL ARMII M/69 service uniform of a general of the army, a marshal level degree that was formed from the previous 4-star general rank in 1974. This rank was the highest rank within the infantry of the Soviet army and the rank above this was Marshal of the Soviet Union. The infantry did not have the two marshal-degrees that was used within the other branches. The rank insignia was changed in 1974 from four stars to one large marshal star and a wreath with a small red star.
This general of the army service uniform was sold to us through one of our eminent suppliers in Moscow. The ribbon bar is massive with several of the highest Soviet awards and decorations. The uniform is in very good condition, although used and with wear. The 15 republic banner state seal buttons have mintmark and are dated late 1960s.
The uniform set consist of jacket, trousers and visor cap.
The jacket has three holes on the left side, but only one graduation badge being from the Voroshilov Academy of General Staff. We do not know what the other holes, which are barely visible from the outside, are for. It could be Red Guards badge and possibly another graduation badge. There is also a hole in the collar for a Highest Soviet - badge. We have substituted the missing badge in the photos for appearance. This badge is not included, but can be purchased separately.
The visor cap is made in Moscow and has a cardboard visor. Its shape is excellent.
The trousers are straight leg type for wear with shoes. The size for this uniform is 56 for tunic and pants and 59 for the visor cap.
The ribbon bar holds three Order of Lenin, order of the October Revolution, four Order of the Red Banner, Order of Bogdan Khmelnitsky III class, Order of Alexander Nevski, both classes of Patriotic War, Order for Service to Motherland III class, Defense of Sevastopol and Stalingrad, capture of Berlin and Prague etc.
Further images can, and will, be made upon request.
The belt in the photo is an officers belt and not included, but available optionally.
