Beautiful tailor made complete parade uniform of a major of the forces of the Soviet ministry of internal affairs (MVD). The uniform is a late issue set, dating 1988, for a war veteran from the Great Patriotic War.
The set consist of dress tunic and trousers in soft high quality wave blue wool gabardine and visor cap in matching colour and is complete with all awards as shown. The shoulderboards have unusual embroidered stars (available to senior officers) instead of a metal star for the rank of major. The uniform is fitted with a honour aiguilette. The collar tabs as well as the sleeve and shoulderboard piping and visor cap base is maroon red for MVD.
The owner participated in world war II, most likely at young age late in the war where he earned the Medal for Bravery (medal for Combat service probably for long service, early 1950s). The awards set was for some reason "slimmed" as several of the anniversary medals have been omitted in the late USSR perestroika era in favor for the awards of importance. These include the medals For Bravery, For Combat Service, Medal for Valiant Labor and the medal for Protection of Public Order. The long service medals are for MVD (15 years of Service) and Uzbekistan MOOP (20 years of service).
On the left side is the Order for Patriotic War IInd class, the badge Excellent MVD Militiaman, a graduation badge (which has enamel cracks), a Red Guards badge and the commemorative badge for 25 years of Victory.
The set is in excellent condition and comes with straight leg trousers for wear with shoes. Belt, shirt and tie optional. The size is a generous 54-56 (US44, L-XL) and the visor cap is a size 58.
