Soviet Engineer captain
M1969 parade uniform

Soviet M1969 parade uniform for a captain of the Soviet engineering troops.

This uniform type and black branch color was introduced in the 1969 regulations. The shoulder boards are golden with four small metal golden stars and the collar tabs feature the engineering insignia on black backing. Overall, the uniform is a standard army cut set in fine quality and shape.

The awards on the uniform indicate a 1970-1980s career in the armed forces starting out in the mid 1970 with membership in the communist youth organization Komsomol as indicated by the VLKSM insignia on the collar. The medals "60th anniversary of the Soviet armed forces" followed the 10 years of irreproachable service medal are proudly mounted together on a single bar. On the wearers right is a Excellent Military Constructor badge and a Red guards badge. The guards badge has an enamel damage. The visor cap is a 1984 manufacture with velvet base. This feature was initially used by armor troops only but was later available to all branches using the black branch color.

The size of the uniform is about size 48 russian or 38US. The visor cap is Marjak made in size 56. The uniform comes with matching wave green trousers with red piping. The belt is included. This uniform would be a great addition to any collection related to the cold war, Soviet army or engineering.
