GENERAL-MAIOR AVIATSII
Superb "early" postwar parade uniform of a airforce technican major-general. The uniform is model M/59 which differs it from the M/69 parade uniforms by the sleeve embroideries, the silver (on this uniform beautifully oxidiced, "with patina") shoulderboard stars and special made belt holders in the sides. This uniform was manufactured about 1964 and features a very well made bullion technicians wing on the left side of the tunic.
Although a parade uniform, this set is fitted with a custom made cloth ribbon bar, which we are convinced was
made and attached by the owner. The tunic has holes from awards which match up nicely with the awards indicated in the ribbon bar.
The owner served during the Great Patriotic War in the Caucasus region. The awards include the prestigeous Order of the Red Banner, two Order of the Red Star and the medal for Combat Service. For display, we added a graduation badge from a Rocket science academy - please note that this badge was not on the uniform initially and is not part of the original set. The other awards on the ribbon bar indicate that he was a citizen of Leningrad (medal for 250th anniversary of foundation of Leningrad) and that he remained in the military service after the war (medal for 30th and 40th anniversaries of the Soviet armed forces). Since the most recent ribbon is the medal for 20th anniversary of the Victory (1965) we believe he passed away either 1966 or 1967 (the bar lacks the 1968 anniversary medal for Foundation of Armed forces).
The visor cap was added to the set and is a M/69 issue.
The uniform is in excellent condition with no holes (apart from award placement holes) or damages and with light wear. The size for the tunic is 54, visor cap is 58.
Awards in ribbon bar: Order of the Red Banner, twice Order of the Red Star, Medal for Combat Service, Medal for defense of Caucasus, Medal for Victory over Germany, Medal for 20th anniversary of the Victory, medals for 30th and 40th anniversaries of the foundation of the Soviet armed forces.
