The medal 20th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War was established 7 May 1965 and awarded to all servicemen and employed civilians of the Soviet Armed Forces who actively participated in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945, to partisans and members of clandestine underground organizations who operated within occupied territories of the USSR, and to those previously awarded with medals "For Victory over Germany" or "Victory over Japan". It was also given to all active servicemen of the Soviet Armed Forces serving at the time.

The award is in very good condition. Although the pictured award has some discoloring, other specimens are available as well. The medal is made of brass.
