Established 8 November 1943. Awarded to noncommissioned officers of the ground forces and to air force personnel up to and including the rank of junior lieutenant for "glorious deeds" while on active service. The awards were given consecutively, to earn a higher class, the lower level of award had to be earned first. A serviceman given this award was automatically promoted.

The award is in very good condition and is a type 2, variation 1 issue from the about 1944. The order is mounted on a period steel hanger with a likely original ribbon.
