  Parade uniform of Marshal of Communications and signal troops Andrej Ivanovitj Belov. Belov was appointed marshal on November 5th 1973. He was born in Pskov in western Russia near the Estonian border on 6th August 1917. He joined the Red Army in 1938, graduated a military electrotechnical university in 1940 and joined the communist party in 1941.

During the Great Patriotic War he was the head of communications for the mechanized troops on the Crimean, Southern, Stalingrad, Steppe, Voronezh, 1st Ukrainan, 3rd Belorusian, 1st and 2nd Baltic, Leningrad and Far east fronts.

In 1948-1957 he held different teaching and instructor positions until made chief of communications and signal troops in the Turkmenistan military district. 1960-1968 he was the chief of communications among the strategic rocket forces. 1968 he was appointed 1st assistant to the chief of communication and signal troops of the Ministry of Defence and finally made chief of the armies of communications and signal troops in 1970. In 1973 he was promoted to Marshal. In 1977 he was also made the deputy chief of Joint Staff of Armed forces of USSR. From 1987 he became the military inspector-adviser of Group of general inspectors of the Ministry of Defence of the USSR, a position he held until he retired in 1992. He lived in Moscow until he passed away on November 29th 2001. Marshal Belov was buried on the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow. [Source]

Among his awards is the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner, Order of Suvorov III class, Order of the Patriotic War II class, no less than four Order of the Red Star as well as the III class "For service to Socialist Motherland" plus several medals, both Soviet and foreign. He also got the Lenin prize in 1981 and the State prize of the USSR in 1977.

The set consist of jacket, trousers and visor cap. The jacket has several holes from screwback awards on the left side, traces from long medal bars on the right side. On the inside of the tunic, the traces are very clearly visible. The jacket is a wave green (czarist green) parade M/59 type with embroidery on collar and sleeves, with six general/marshal type buttons marked "Moschtamp ***". The buttons are 1956 style, with 16 republics in the Soviet coat of arms. The jacket is fitted with Marshal of Communications and signals shoulderboards, post 1970 version with red edges. The uniform has red piping as the general and marshal ranks of the special troops changed the branch colour in the early 1970s from magenta to red.
